Premium-Rate Service

Description

Provides access to sought-after information, for which a higher call charge can be levied. Apportions revenue from charges recovered from the user's phone bill, between the content provider, the service provider, and the network operator (as appropriate).
Distinctive number range codes should be reserved for premium rate services, so users are aware of potential high costs before making premium rate calls.

The revenue apportionment of premium rate services is an example of the Split Charging feature, where IN charging functions can be used to allocate the cost between calling and called parties (as well as to third parties, where appropriate).
